KARTIK POORNIMA IN VRINDAVAN.....SPECIAL PROGRAMMES

Vrindavan November 6 (IANS)

This Kartik Poornima will be special for "Brajbasis" of Vrindavan who have been invited by their MP Hema Malini to join her on the stage and dance in the Maha Raas.

Legend has it that it was the night of Kartik Poornima, the moon at its brightest, that Sri Krishna danced with the gopis of Vrindavan. This is called Maha Raas. "Each gopi was with one Sri Krishna and the whole eternity had virtually stopped, the gods from the heavens watching the Maha Raas that exuded a high level of spirituality, creativity and bhakti. This was perfect communication, the communicator, the communicated and the message were eternally bonded," explained music maestro Acharya Jaimini.

"This mass dancing  is my way of connecting with the people and getting them involved in the development process," she told IANS. Hema Malini, a Vaishanavite, represents Mathura-Vrindavan in the Lok Sabha.

She told IANS "I met the prime minister Narendra Modi in his office on Wednesday and handed him over a set of 20 odd demands for the development of the Sri Krishn-Radha's Leela Bhoomi, the Braj Mandal. He has promised not to let me down as the Brajbasis have lots of hopes from me."

Thursday evening's Maha Raas will be special. "It will give me an opportunity to bring the local talent to the fore."

Hema Malini said she was  determined to change the profile of Sri Krishna land, the Braj area which draws millions of devotees and pilgrims from all over the world round the year.
