UP GOVERNOR BATS FOR AGRA TOURISM
Agra October 16
(IANS)
Uttar Pradesh governor Ram Naik
today called for concerted efforts to promote tourism in Agra to accelerate
economic growth in the area and help bridge communication
gaps.
Naik was delivering the Dharm Pal
Vidhyarthi Memorial lecture organised by the National Chamber of Industries and
Commerce at hotel Clark Shiraz. He also opened a theatre festival later in the
evening.
The governor said the state
government should streamline security arrangement and improve law and order
situation in the city which because of the Taj Mahal is a huge draw. Air
connectivity too must be ensured.
He suggested budget hotels with
good food and facilities for the middle income group. Foreign tourists helped us
earn foreign exchange, therefore we should take care of them so that they
"thanked us" for a comfortable stay in Agra. Naik wanted steps taken to promote
the local Petha industry. Alongwith the Taj Mahal, facilities should also be
streamlined in MJathura, Vrindavan and Goverdhan.
To attract more tourists
cleanliness had to be a priority, he added.
