BLIND STARS VISIT THE TAJ MAHAL

More than 150 blind stars from all
over India today visited the Taj Mahal, the 17th century monument of love.
It was such a touching moment when
tourists saw the blind stars touch and feel the beauty of the white marble
mausoleum. Many of them pointed out the mistakes in the notice board put outside
the forecourt in Braille language.
Though sightless, they posed for
photos and curiously wondered how they looked in the
pictures.
The blind stars after attending
the three day national convention visited the Taj Mahal and asked searching
questions about the history, the details of the architectural patterns and the
effect of pollution.
"They touched the intricate
carvings and pointed out which flower was rose and which was lily. They were
delighted to wear the shoe covers from the automatic machine. They spent more
than two hours and enjoyed every second of their stay," Akhil Srivastav,
organiser of the convention told IANS.
At the concluding session at the
Agra University's Jubilee Hall, 18 short films on blindness and eye donation
were exhibited. These had been entered by amateur film makers from all over
India. Pune's Mas Qazmi's film Anokhi won the Golden Eye award. Noida's Akshya
Upadhyaya's film "Peeti" was adjudged second for the Silver Eye award.
