AGRA COMMISSIONER TO TAKE MORE INTEREST IN MATHURA
Mathura NOV 22
In view of the importance of the
Braj area, and the need for deep study of the local problems, divisional
commissioner Pradeep Bhatnagar told TOI "there was need to spend more time there
and take a close look."
Bhatnagar said he had asked the
Mathura administration to purchase modern equipments for cleaning up the city.
"Rs 5 crores have been sanctioned and I think some machnery has already been
procured."
Vrindavan and Goverdhan too need
attention. The commissioner said safai karamcharis would be deputed and made
responsible for specific areas all along the parikrama route in Goverdhan. Lakhs
of pilgrims each month perform the 21 km long parikrama of the holy Goverdhan
hill which little Krishna lifted on his finger.
Bhatnagar said in Vrindavan the
problem of land fill site has to be taken up on priority. The waste disposal
system had to be streamlined. The support of the gram panchayats had to be
enlisted and people made aware of their own role and contribution to keep their
areas clean.
