HATHRAS READY TO FACE DROUGHT

Hathras NOV 22

Water and power supply failure due to scanty rains in 2014 have badly hit agricultural operations in the district.
The shortage of fertilisers has also led to a series of protests and complaints against the official machinery and private stockists creating a tense situation.
The district administration has now called a meeting of all the stake holders and the departmental heads on November 26.
District magistrate Shamim Ahmed Khan told TOI that the state government has already declared Hathras drought hit as the district received less than 60 percent of the average annual rainfall this year.
The meeting next week will help finalise an action plan that will help address the problem in its entirety.
