Mathura
Senior Superintendent of police
Mathura, Manzil Saini has drawn up a comprehensive traffic management plan for
Mathura and Vrindavan, and is likely to be put into action from December 1.
The plan restricts the entry of
heavy vehicles in the city areas from morning till evening. One way traffic
system will also be enforced in and around Holi Gate. The state roadways buses
will also have to follow new guidelines and enter the city bus stands from
specified routes.
Manzil Saini is waiting for
reactions from the public. The feedback will be analysed and suitable
modifications made in the plan. Senior officials indicated more traffic cops
will be deployed on busy routes. The Chatikara entry point to Vrindavan will be
the focal point of traffic control. Heavy vehicles entering Vrindavan from the
Yamuna Expressway will also need to wait for specified timings to enter the
city.
Officials hoped strict adherence
to the new timings and routes would ease traffic pressure and help address one
of the major irritants for visiting pilgrims.
